Prayerful Morning Moments Matter

A few weeks ago, I was invited to present some contemplative thoughts at two different women’s retreats in September. I have been preparing for one morning session which will be titled Morning Moments Matter. Some of you who have read my blog for any length of time will recognize this Morning Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi, which is a favorite and one I have committed to memory. I hope this prayer will bless your morning.

Morning Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

Lord, help me to live this day, quietly, easily;

to lean on Your great strength, trustfully, restfully;

to wait for the unfolding of Your will, patiently, serenely;

to meet others, peacefully, joyfully;

to face tomorrow, confidently, courageously.

Amen

Note: One of my spiritual directees told me she taught this prayer to her three grade-school-aged children, and it has made a difference in their days. That report made my heart smile! Since my daughter and son-in-law, who are elementary ed teachers, plus our two younger grandkids, are beginning the 2025-26 school year this week, I thought this was a good time to share my directee’s experience.

Blessings on your journey, especially to those beginning a new school year!
