Labor Day Prayer

Today is Labor Day, a national holiday set aside to honor the men and women who show up and work hard. This post is reprinted from a 2023 post with a prayer I wrote for those who work willingly and diligently! Thank you and have a wonderful holiday!!

Dear God,

This Labor Day holiday, I pray your special blessing on all the faithful folks who work diligently day after day, year upon year.

Bless:

farmers who harvest; teachers who instruct; healers who mend and tend the broken and infirm; moms and dads who miss special events because they’re on call or must travel; public servants who protect, govern, and legislate; women and men who supply, serve, and smile even when they don’t feel like doing so; and bless those who bring hope and encouragement to the hurting and mistreated.

Thank you for:

the willingness of laborers to “show up” and perform tasks they’re given; small business owners who arise early and turn in late to make dreams of business ownership happen; parents who choose to work at home so they can spend more time with their children; corporations who truly care about people more than bottom-line profits; as well as workers who sacrifice and serve others.

We pray for:

people hunting for a job; those who feel anxious about job security; ones who struggle with difficult workplace relationships; those who train to prepare for a better job; and retirees who spend time and energy helping others in many ways.

No matter what jobs we perform, please help us work willingly as though we’re working for the Lord. (See Colossians 3:23)

                                                            Amen

Blessings on your journey and thank you for the good work you do!
