Celebrating the Little Ones…
When I was a child, my favorite picture was one of Jesus surrounded by little children. One of the qualities of Jesus that draws me to him even now is the way he loved and welcomed children during a time when culturally children were not highly valued. I hope you’ll read more …
But Jesus called them to him, saying, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Luke 18:16 (ESV)
Aren’t these baby lambs the cutest!?! Ron captured this photo when we were driving through the countryside of Scotland a few weeks ago.
Today, June 18th, is my firstborn child’s birthday. Angie is all grown up now and is one of the most dedicated and loving grandmas I have ever known. In today’s post, I not only want to celebrate Angie, but I also want to celebrate the gift of children.
Both Ron and I enjoy kids. We’ve never discussed selling our house and moving to an over-55 community (although there are certainly advantages). We enjoy having children in the neighborhood, watching them grow from infants into teenagers and even beyond.
While on a photo excursion earlier this spring, Ron photographed this heart-warming scene of two geese and their goslings happily—perhaps obediently—swimming along.
One of the gifts I gave each of my grandkids on their first birthday was a soft-bodied baby doll. Sydney, our firstborn grandchild, was the initial recipient. Some 30 years later, her son and Angie’s grandchild, Baker, loved his little boy babydoll from G-gma Susie.
Sydney recently sent me this photo of Baker at naptime snuggling with his “bee-bee.” It made my heart extra happy since I also gave Baker the giraffe lovey. I lost part of my heart to giraffes when we visited South Africa several years ago, and I feel so happy that my great grandson shares the affection. 😊
“Grandchildren are the crown of the aged …”
Proverbs 17:6 (ESV)
Shalom, shalom to you and all those you love!
