Thursday Thoughts The Birds and the Beasts Were There
I think my soul must have needed a good dose of creation during our recent getaway to Montana. I’ve already shared some of my husband’s Montana sky photos as well as wildflower pictures. Today’s final Montana blog post includes a few of Ron’s beautiful photographs of birds plus a couple photos of amazing pronghorns. Please join me as we marvel together at God’s creativity.
A lovely word picture in scripture is in Psalm 85, a prayer of the sons of Korah asking the Lord to restore their land. The psalmist writes,
“Mercy and truth have met together;
Righteousness and peace have kissed.”
Psalm 85:10 (NKJV)
This photo reminded me of those words. Since bluebirds are symbolic of happiness, I borrowed word imagery from the psalmist and decided this photo might say,
Nature and gladness have met together;
Hope and joy have kissed!
“Then God said, ‘… let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.” So God created … every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying ,’Be fruitful and multiply, …’ “
Genesis 1:20-22
A little finch follows behind this handsome Mourning dove.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled.
Matthew 5:6 (NKJV)
We’re expecting a short visit from our daughter and grandson this week. My first thought when I heard they were coming was about what favorite foods we could fix for them. You may be like me, expressing love by feeding those you love.
Mama bluebird feeds her babies their favorite mealworms.
A big old fat angleworm may be on the menu for this young robin.
I wonder if the baby osprey is waiting for dinner.
A blue birdbath makes the perfect perching place for this majestic robin.
Don’t these flowers perfectly complement the colors of this young robin?
“Then God said, ‘Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind’; and it was so. … And God saw that it was good.”
Genesis 1:24-26
Herds of pronghorn, the fastest mammal in the Americas, roam the fields behind our friends’ home. Many people think pronghorns are part of the antelope family, but in fact, their closest relatives are giraffes. How amazing is that tidbit of zoology trivia?
Twin pronghorns stay nearby their mama.
Blessings on wherever you are planted,
