The Heavens Declare …
Recently, I read the words of a Christian astrophysicist who extoled the wonder of the “Creator of the Cosmos” choosing to become incarnate on planet earth. Her words ignited deeper within me. In today’s post, I quote her and share some of my husband, Ron’s night-sky photographs. I think you’ll enjoy…
Sometime during Advent, I read an online article that impressed me. I copied some of its content to use in one of my posts, but I failed to copy the reference. Today, I am quoting from that article the words of an astrophysicist named Dr. Deborah Haarsma. Further research informed me that Dr. Haarsma is a Christian American astrophysicist and philosopher of religion who promotes evolutionary creationism and discourse on both science and religion.
I don’t have a particularly scientific mind, but I do have a husband who absolutely loves astrophotography, and because of him, I have learned to appreciate the majestic night sky. Also, I am always impressed and inspired by scientists who discover God in their professional pursuits.
Today, I will share a quote from Dr. Haarsma along with some of my favorite night-sky photos from Ron.
Dr. Deborah Haarsma said,
“If the heavens are unfathomable in their greatness, then the truth is even more stunning: The Creator of the cosmos chose to become incarnate here. When God became man, he came to a planet that is but a pinprick in the emptiness of space. The Bible’s cosmic claims are timeless, yet they carry more heft when considered alongside the discoveries of modern science…The God who brings out the starry host one by one, calling each by name, can do this for billions upon trillions of stars, not just the few thousand we see at night (Isa. 40:26). This inconceivable vastness of the universe does not diminish God—it shows us more of his greatness.”
May you discover wondrous blessings on your journey!
