Happy Spring

Happy Spring!  Following a needed sabbatical, I feel grateful to again share with you in our journeys of faith! I have thought of you and prayed for you often during these past three months.

I love Spring!  A season of becoming.

Withered bulbs become lovely flowers

Barren trees—rejuvenated from the inside out—become massive displays of beautiful blooms like these magnificent cherry blossoms in Washington D. C., which wowed thousands of visitors—including me—on March 30, 2025.

Birds emerge with springtime melodies, lay eggs, and tend their babies before nudging them from the nest to become all God created feathered friends to do and be.

And little boys like our grandson, Reeve, practice becoming better baseball players.

The Song of Songs is an interesting book nestled in the pages of the Old Testament. I do not understand it well, but know it is an actual love story between two individuals as well as an allegory of Christ’s deep spiritual love for God’s people. The picture of spring painted in Chapter 2 motivates us to become.  (from The Message with a few of my own revisions.)

Get up, my dear friend,
    Look around you: Winter is over;
    the winter snows and rains are gone!
Spring flowers are in blossom all over.
    The whole world’s a choir—and singing!
Spring warblers are filling the forest
    with sweet strains.
Lilacs are exuberantly purple and perfumed,
    and cherry trees fragrant with blossoms.
Oh, get up, dear friend,

    leave your seclusion, come out in the open.

Blessings on your journey through spring and beyond!
